Thunguri means “a hill” in Kikuyu language. Thunguri Coffee, home of the Specialty coffee, is produced by 1,057 small-scale coffee farmers (with approximately 634.2 ha of land under coffee culivation), living in the heart of the hilly parts of Mukurwe-ini Valleys IBA (Important Bird Area), which extends on the lower south-east slopes of the Aberdare Mountains (IBA KE 001) and to the far south west of Mount Kenya forest (IBA KE 002) in Nyeri County. The hectares of land under coffee cultivation are approximately 634.2. Since then, our fertile soils have produced high quality coffee through the use of holistic production methods that take our customers concerns for a healthy environment seriously.
